Muay Thai Kickboxing in Laurel, MD
Stop Wondering If You Can Do This.
Muay Thai at 2nd Gear is built for people who have never thrown a punch in a class before.
The moment a combination you have been drilling for weeks lands exactly the way it is supposed to. Clean technique, right timing, full power. Your body did something your brain had to work hard to teach it.
That is what keeps people here.
This is demanding. The conditioning will push you. The technique will challenge you. You will leave your first few classes genuinely tired in a way most workouts stopped making you feel a long time ago.
That demand is the whole point. The people here were not looking for easier. They were looking for something that actually required something from them.
Joan Baer
“I came in with zero martial arts experience, just looking for a good workout and a healthy outlet for stress, and I have gained so much more than I expected. I have never felt stronger, both mentally and physically.”

Am I going to get hit? Not the way you are imagining. Beginners work on technique, pad work, and bag work first. Contact is introduced gradually and always on your terms.
Can I survive the conditioning? The conditioning builds with you. People come in out of shape and get fit through the training itself. You do not need to be ready. You just need to show up.
Am I going to look completely lost? Yes. So does everyone in their first few classes. Nobody at 2nd Gear is going to make you feel bad about it. The coaches know exactly how to move you through it.

When you learn to stay composed and think clearly while something is physically demanding, that composure starts showing up everywhere else.
Difficult conversations. High pressure moments. The low level anxiety most people carry through their day.
Most people who train here describe it as feeling more capable than they have in years. Not because they became fighters. Because they found out what they were made of.
Every class has a clear structure. Technique, pad work with a partner, conditioning built into the training itself. You learn something concrete every single time you walk in.
Classes run six days a week. Wear athletic clothes. Nothing to buy before your first visit.]
